Yesterday afternoon brought us, another, dark and stormy day. The rain poured down and the air was alive with disco ball flashes of light. The thunder was like the waves of the ocean with its long low rumbles that seem to carry on forever, the next one coming before the last quite fizzles out. It’s a peaceful sort of thing and I quite like a good stormy afternoon.
Today brings a lazy rainy day but we are minus the storms. The good soaking rain is great for the garden. It’s also a big bonus for my water bill not to have to run the irrigation a few times a week.
I’ve been immersed with Italy as of late. I’ve always wanted to visit and it’s a pleasure to be drown in it this past week. I’ve been watching re-runs of The Sopranos – probably one of my favorite shows. The downside of this is that I’m constantly hungry! All those people do is eat!!
The other side of my Italian obsession comes from my current book pick. Stealing Venice by Heather Readding. I’m completely and totally in LOVE with this book! I can’t wait to finish and review it however I’m positive it’s one of my favorites in a long time.
Over the weekend my craving for Italian food got the best of me. All set for a completely decadent pizza, the hubbs and I went to a fabulous local restaurant. All I’ve eaten from Salvatore’s is the pizza and that’s more than enough to keep you coming back.
However, our waitress did us the favor of reading off the nightly specials and the pizza plan went to hell in a hand basket. I decided on the most wonderful chicken marsala dish. The hubbs got a filet, yes steak at an Italian place, but OH MY! It was..perfecto! It came topped with goat cheese with cinnamon and cranberries. I already want it again!
Here’s to rainy day naps!
