Today is a GREAT pub day to celebrate!!! Lilac Girls is finally available to the masses. You all know how much I adored this book! Seriously – why are you not reading it already??
This book is popping up on every major watch list and will certainly land itself on every best sellers list quickly.
Get It From Amazon
This week the hubs is on vacation so I’m not starting a new book. I don’t quite know what to do with myself without a book!! I have several reviews to put up so maybe that will keep me busy. I’ve kind of been wandering around the house unsettled! But I’ve caught up on The Good Wife and some other neglected t.v. shows.
We have been working, well I’ve been supervising -HE’S been working, on cleaning the garage and starting to prep the back yard for spring. Oh the Fun!! Not really at all but it’s all stuff that needs doing. Maybe fun will come later this week.
That’s all for today! Have a good one!
Last night the hubs and I visited a traveling exhibit at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. It’s called Lantern Asia and it was really cool. It was a beautiful night to go walk the gardens and see the lighted structures. We both had a really great time, I love doing stuff like this.
It really was beautiful!
Otherwise, it’s been a slow start to the week. Simon and I spent a little time enjoying the back yard. I started a new book, Lily and the Octopus. Not much going on this week but the hubs is on vacation next week so hopefully we’ll plan something fun!
Have a fun afternoon!
I finished my 20th book of the year last night! A nerdy celebration but bookworms will appreciate this.
The Little Pairs Bookshop was an enjoyable and easy read. It was a lazy summer day kind of book.
My goal of 50 is looking attainable this year!
This past week I got some lovely book mail from my friend at the paper! I’m all set for spring reading! I hope I can get through them all – I also have a digital stack of lovelies awaiting me on the kindle. I can’t wait to read these!
Today is a wonderful spring day! The windows are all open and the sassy cats are in heaven. They make me nervous all sprawled out in the open windows but they love it.
I also have our ceiling fans on! This is quite the victory. When we first moved into this house Simon was terrified of the ceiling fans! He didn’t even like them when they were off! We are slowly making some progress and they can be on the low setting now.
Hoping you are enjoying your Monday!
Over the weekend I stopped into our local tea shop. So posh! It is the nicest little store with very helpful people that run it. That makes all the difference! I love small local shops where the people are so pleasant. A rarity these days.
Images are from the Quintin’s website.
They have walls and walls of tea! And canisters of each one that you can pluck off the shelves and smell. They will brew anything for you to try! It’s tea- heaven.
It’s been rainy and dreary which is great for both tea drinking and reading! I started a new book – yeah me – so far it’s good!
So far it’s about a woman’s husband who disappeared five years ago and has legally been declared dead. She was tried for his murder but not convicted. The charges were dropped? There is sort of a lingering question that maybe she DID have something to do with it…it’s suspicious. His mother, Daisy, is kind of an evil thing. Maybe she did her son in because she THOUGHT she was the beneficiary of his life insurance. Turns out she was wrong about that one.
I was put off from initially requesting this title because, like SOOO MANY, it’s billed as ‘the next’ Gone Girl. That’s such a put off and publishers should stop making this comparison. Gone Girl was fantastic…but every third book on the shelf is now stacking itself up to it and it’s just a mess. Most don’t deliver the goods. So far this one is good…but let’s face it…there will never be another Gone Girl.
It publishes tomorrow so you can check it out for yourself right away.
Hope you have a “tea-riffic” afternoon!!
Somehow I just realized that this post from last week never updated to the blog. So here is last weeks lost post.
Yesterday, my little corner of the world had its first Crack Rack open. For those unfamiliar, this is the fond nickname loyal shoppers have bestowed upon The Nordstrom Rack store.
I can say that I attended the grand opening day. I can’t say I was crazy enough to stand in an over hour long line (at one of three registers) to purchase anything. There was a stupid amount of people there and I am not the most patient shopper – especially clothes.
To all the moms and nannies I ask a public service: Please, please stop carting baby strollers into packed stores! This includes any opening day events or Black Friday shopping. OMG I was bumped and run into so many times I felt like I needed to be wearing combat gear!
I understand people with children have to shop and drag the kids, but good lord. Timing people!! Who would even want to slug kids in that mayhem? Needless to say all the kiddos were THRILLED to be looking at women’s clothing! Not so much.
My weekend plans are reading and finding something to do to enjoy the warm weather. I think a stroller ride is on tabs for this afternoon for Simon.
The hubs is planning a date night. We are going to dinner tomorrow and he’s picking the place. I always have to pick so I’m excited to go wherever he chooses.
That’s all for me – hopefully I’ll be back from the weekend with book reports! The pile continues to grow!
This year we get a whole extra day! I’m never sure if it should be just one more day or if you should approach Leap Day with a seize the day attitude. Play hookie from work, picnic outside, do something fun and revel in 24 extra hours.
This year is less carpe diem and more laundry. Sad, I know. But the hubs has returned from the latest business trip and dumped his weeks worth of laundry on the already growing pile of my own.
It is pretty nice outside and I’m hoping to take Simon out for a walk in his stroller. He loves to get out and smell the air and chat with the neighbors. He’d prefer to walk but we make him ride for his own good.
In book news this week:
I have finished a few new ones and all have been different shades of pretty good.
An advanced reminder that The Passenger by Lisa Lutz hits shelves tomorrow. Be sure to snap this one up – it’s great and a big buzz book so far this year!
Spring is fast approaching and that means yard work, days in the sunshine and reading outside all afternoon. I can’t wait for longer days and warmer weather!!
