Today is has been filled with little tedious things around the house. I cleaned all my make up brushes – always fun.
I sharpened all my colored pencils. Now I don’t want to color with them and ruin them! It reminded me of that line in You’ve Got Mail. “A bouquet of newly sharpened pencils”. I love that movie. I haven’t been coloring in my books a lot lately. I don’t know why – I always enjoy it. It’s a good kitty nap time activity. They like to help a lot.
It was been a pretty slow week in general. It has been warm enough to be outside but it’s sooo windy! Oh my gosh – I sat out yesterday and my book pages just kept flipping right out of my hands! I gave up.
I was outside just long enough to be attacked by all the spring pollen. I sneezed so much yesterday that my ribs are sore today! We won’t even talk about the copious amounts of benedryl it took to finally stop the madness.
This has been my book for the last few days – I’ll get it finished today I’m sure. It’s about artist Georgia O’Keeffe. I have to say I’m not all that familiar with her or her work. I’ve done some Googling since starting the book. She was not a nice or likable person if this book is accurate at all. I’m not a huge art fan. I mean who doesn’t “like” art…but I’m not really an art buff. I can’t say I think her stuff is all that amazing..but SHE sure thought she was the bees knees!
Now I AM a photography buff. The guy she was involved with (and married to) was Arthur Steiglitz. He thought quite highly of himself as well but I can’t say I find anything that remarkable in his photography. I can say the I’m amazed that either of them got anything done! The book is mostly filled with their “romantic activities” and he had quite the obsession with nude photographs.
I’ll say the book is pretty well written, but it’s really not my cup of tea at all.
C’est La Vie. Have a super weekend!
Last night the hubs and I visited a traveling exhibit at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. It’s called Lantern Asia and it was really cool. It was a beautiful night to go walk the gardens and see the lighted structures. We both had a really great time, I love doing stuff like this.
It really was beautiful!
Otherwise, it’s been a slow start to the week. Simon and I spent a little time enjoying the back yard. I started a new book, Lily and the Octopus. Not much going on this week but the hubs is on vacation next week so hopefully we’ll plan something fun!
Have a fun afternoon!
I finished my 20th book of the year last night! A nerdy celebration but bookworms will appreciate this.
The Little Pairs Bookshop was an enjoyable and easy read. It was a lazy summer day kind of book.
My goal of 50 is looking attainable this year!
This past week I got some lovely book mail from my friend at the paper! I’m all set for spring reading! I hope I can get through them all – I also have a digital stack of lovelies awaiting me on the kindle. I can’t wait to read these!
Today is a wonderful spring day! The windows are all open and the sassy cats are in heaven. They make me nervous all sprawled out in the open windows but they love it.
I also have our ceiling fans on! This is quite the victory. When we first moved into this house Simon was terrified of the ceiling fans! He didn’t even like them when they were off! We are slowly making some progress and they can be on the low setting now.
Hoping you are enjoying your Monday!
It’s Friday! Yeah for those of you who have a weekend to look forward to! Sadly, when you work from home or you are a home maker Friday’s are just not the same. Though I try to get as much stuff done as I can so that I do have two days without piles of laundry and dishes to do.
At some point in my future I see a day of deep scrubbing. A Spring Cleaning day. Today is not that day. I’m going to have to prepare for that mentally.
Today is more one of those walk around and knock the dust off the tops of things and vacuum up the cat fur tumbleweeds.
Except for bathrooms. I hate cleaning bathrooms. Those require effort.
The sassy cats are all napping in windows today. It’s a quiet and peaceful day. Except for Simon – he’s up and chatting up a storm. I opened a can of tuna for him hoping that if his mouth was full then he’d be quiet. I think this is similar to giving candy to a screaming kid. Not that you really intend to reward bad behavior, but as long as the noise stops you are willing to do anything.
Yes. I try and bribe the cat to be quiet. No judgement.
Hopefully this weekend brings books – and reviews! I have a few to get finished so you can select something wonderful to read!
The hubs helped me make a few changes around here in the bloggosphere. Some more may be coming. Nothing too drastic, but hopefully improvements. For now the new addition is the ability for you all to follow on Twitter. Yeah! Hit the follow button on the side bar and stay caught up.
Happy Reading, Napping, Cleaning…whatever it is you’re up to on this Fab Friday
Are you wearing green today? I am disgracing my hubby’s Irish-ness by not participating in St. Pat’s Day. I can’t say he cares too much. I don’t do green. Green is NOT the new black.
I do think all the St. Patrick’s day “stuff” is cute, shamrocks and pot’s O’ gold, but this holiday is really one that just whirls by me without a thought.
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, I have to confess that I’m a procrastinator. A big one. If something hasn’t started causing me to panic and pull out my hair in impending doom then it just isn’t worth doing yet.
I purchased a white board to mount next to my desk. I thought that a visual way to keep my lists of book tasks would keep me on target. I underestimated myself. I simply keep adding to the lists and watch them grow. I need an intervention. I’ve had to put myself in book-time out again. No new books until I get some more reviews done and make some progress on that TBR pile. I’m beginning to accept that this is just the life of a book blogger and reviewer. The pile will always be there.
Simon and I had a lovely stroll today. I think some chilly weather is headed our way next week so we took advantage of today. We took a longer walk than usual and he did well. I’m trying to build up his tolerance to a decent walking distance. He’s just such an on the go guy that an hour in the stroller is taxing for him. But he’s happy to get out and see the sights and smell the smells.
Yesterday we practiced relaxing on the deck. I’d love to be able to have him lounge outside and read with me.
Have a Happy St. Pats celebration! Drink a green beer for me…
The Daffodils are up and some of the early spring trees are starting to bloom. I’m missing my pear tree right now as it was a welcome sign of spring. I may have to get a new one for where we are now.
My body has not adjusted to the recent time change. It usually takes awhile. I just don’t understand why we do this!
The weather is just on the cusp of staying warm and bringing in summertime. I think spring is my favorite time of year. I love that it’s not quite hot out yet but the warm breezes and new flowers are so wonderful after the winter cold.
The kitties are always happy when the weather turns. They are tired of chilly feet and long for open windows for afternoon napping.
We are lucky enough that where we live we have lots of opportunity to join in outdoor events. There are wine festivals, beer festivals, strawberry festivals. Festivals involving food are big around here. I love the beer fests and my favorite event is the BBQ fest but that’s usually in the fall. It’s nice to spend the day outside on the water or at the ocean front soaking up the sun and the goodies.
I have finished this one – It was a requested review by the author and published last fall.
These two are new to the pile. Fragile Brilliance published last fall and is a requested review. Armadillos came from Net Galley and hits shelves April 1.
Today’s chore is laundry. I think laundry is an endless endeavor.
Have a great day and enjoy whatever it is you’re up to!
Break out the sunscreen folks! The sunshine and warm weather has finally arrived! I snagged some time in my favorite place and am all the better for it! There are very few places that I would rather be than in a beach chair with a book soaking up some sunshine.
In my back yard or in the sand by the ocean it really doesn’t matter much. I love to read while I bake in the sun.
I also used the nice afternoon as an advantage and took Simon for a little walk in his stroller. He loves to ride and chat away at the birds and squirrels we encounter. He’s such a funny little guy.
However, he wasn’t so funny this morning when he knocked my just made bowl of fresh fruit on the floor. A giant mess and no lunch for me! This instigated the gin and tonic I took outside with me. He really is cute but such a total pain in the ass some days.
No news is good news and luckily I have little to share these days. Here’s to smooth sailing and a warm spring!
